Preventative Care & Oral Hygiene
When it comes to dental health, the goal is to take preventative measures that allow you to keep your own teeth for the duration of your life. At Woden Dental Care, we have a commitment to the establishment and maintenance of healthy mouthes, and a preventative approach to the control and manaagement of dental problems.
To maintain good oral health, it is important to have your dental check-ups reguarly (usually every 6 months). The check-up appointment usually includes a scaling of teeth and a periodic examination with our dentist, who will perform a thorough check-up of the teeth with the aim of identifying problems early before they become major issues. Diagnostic x-rays may also be required to aid in this process.
Dental Hygiene
Good dental hygiene is essential not only for oral health, but to maintain good general health as well. Our hygenist will provide a scaling of teeth, removing plaque and calculus to prevent gum disease, or to stop the progression of gum disease.
During a hygiene appointment, our dental hygienist will thoroughly clean your teeth of plaque and calculus, remove surface staining and apply fluoride treatment. We will assess your gums for any signs of gingivitis or periodontitis (gum disease) and work with you on how to clean your teeth effectively.
The ultimate goal of the dental hygiene department is the prevention of disease. By showing patients the effects of dental disease and then assisting them to develop the necessary skills and knowledge, our patients are able to maintain optimal oral health between visits.
